How to Pray with Results

1. Come to your heavenly Father

1.  Matthew 6:6 “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

2.  Matthew 6:9 "This, then, is how you should pray:
" 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,…’

2.  Come to your heavenly Father in Jesus Name.

  1. John 16:23-24 “In that day (Once Christ resurrected and the new covenant went into effect) you will no longer ask me anything. I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete."
  2. John 14:12-14 “I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it."
  3. John 15:16 “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.”

3.  Come to your Father with confidence

1.  Confidence in motive - Glorify God the Father

 i. Matthew 6:9-10 " 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,

your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”

ii.  John 15:7 “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”

2.  Confidence in the Blood of Jesus

i.  Hebrews 9:22  “and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.”

ii.  Hebrews 9:14 “How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!”

a.  Hebrews 4:15-16 “…we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

b.  1 John 3:21 “Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him.”

c.  1 John 1:9  “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

d.  The curse has been beaten by the blood – Galatians 3:13-14  “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree." He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit."

4.  Ask For Help

1.  Matthew 6:11 "“Give us today our daily bread.”

2.  James 4:2 "...You do not have, because you do not ask God.”

5.  Stay In Faith

1.  you'll be rewarded Hebrews 11:6 “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”

i.  Earnestly is from the Greek word “ekzeteo” meaning “to seek out for one’s self, beg, require and demand”

ii.  Stay with it ask and believe and ask and believe and …

a.  Mark 11:23-24 "I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”

b.  Luke 18:1  “Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.”

c.  Luke 18:7-8  “And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?"

d.  Not by what our five senses tell us - Galatians 3:11 "... the righteous will live by faith."  Hebrews 10:38 “But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him."

  2.  Be Committed

Commitment = believe you receive

i.  With Thanksgiving – Jesus paid for it already on the cross.  Come with an attitude of gratitude.  “Thank you it is finished – now I receive it in faith.”  So many times we spend all of our time with the Lord asking Him for what He has already given.  The devil tries to steal what we have been given.

a.  Philippians 4:6 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

b.  Thanksgiving is the beginning of the path to intimacy with Him.  Psalm 100:4 - Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.”

ii.  Do Not Doubt

a.  Mark 11:22-24  "'’Have faith in God,’ Jesus answered. ’I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.’"

6.  The environment of faith

1. Joy instead of sorrow

i.  John 16:24  “Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.”

2.  Peace instead of anxiety.

i.  Philippians 4:6-7  “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

7.  Pray in agreement with another believer

    1.  When you gather in His Name the great "I AM" is there.

    i.  Matthew 18:19  “Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."

    2.  The power of you, your another believer and God

    i.  Ecclesiastes 4:12  “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

8.  Judge yourself

1 Corinthians 11:31 “But if we judged ourselves, we would not come under judgment. When we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned with the world.”

1.  Repent of any strife so your prayers may be heard

Repent and resist – “Father forgive me of sinning against You and any place the devil feels he has right in my life I bind and cut off his influence right now in Jesus Name.”

James 4:7 “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
